- Performance Task Packet (student prompt, graphic organizer, maps, ballot, rubric)

Time Allowance: 15 class periods of 30 minutes or 8 class periods of 60 minutes
Description: Performance based culminating activity using cooperative groups to study regions of Missouri--graphic organizer, research, scoring guide
Classroom Component: Pre-assessment Instructions: Students should have an understanding of famous Missourians, historical importance of Missouri, industry and tourism, geography and natural resources of Missouri.
Missouri Brochure Time Management Plan
Student Prompt Date Dear _____________:Day 1 Pass out and discuss prompt (written directions) for the Missouri Brochure. Send home parent letter and this time management plan for the project. Day 2 Introduce visual map of Missouri (each student has their own copy to use as a reference for the project). Discuss the Northern Plains Region. Day 3 Use visual map of Missouri to discuss the Western Plains Region. Day 4 Use visual map of Missouri to discuss the Ozark Highlands Region. Day 5 Use visual map of Missouri to discuss the Southeast Lowland Region. Day 6 Using the graphic organizer, students choose one region in Missouri for the project. Students will also choose his/her "team assignment". (Students will write down their top two choices for regions and top two choices for team assignment and turn them in for the teachers to make the final decision.) Day 7 Announce Regional Teams and each student''s team assignment. Pass out and discuss the brochure rubric and how to begin the project. Day 8 Work in groups to make decisions about important aspects of the region of Missouri each person will research. Day 9 Individual work - research and take notes for your aspect of the brochure. Day 10 Individual work - research and take notes for your aspect of the brochure. Day 11 Individual work - research and take notes for your aspect of the brochure. Day 12 Work in groups to share the information each person has gathered. Day 13 Construct the brochure - divide and assign responsibilities among group members. Day 14 Construct the brochure - divide and assign responsibilities among group members. Day 15 Complete and turn in brochures. Groups may present their brochures to the class, discussing the major aspects of their region of Missouri. Congratulations! You have just been hired by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce to design a brochure that will be used to attract new people to one of the four regions of Missouri.
You will be assigned to one of four Missouri Regional Teams along with 4 or 5 other highly-qualified experts. You will each be responsible for a certain part of the brochure. Together, your team will create an attractive, informative brochure in hopes of getting new people to visit or move to Missouri.

Northern Plains Team Western Plains Team Ozark Highlands Team Southeast Lowlands Team Project deadlines, salary information and team assignments, and individual assignments will be sent to you within the next two weeks.We are looking forward to working with you on this project.
