Technology in the Classroom
With today’s increasing focus on technology in the classroom, more products and services are being offered to our educators. Classrooms are outfitted with interactive whiteboards such as SMART Boards rather than just the standard blackboards; computer labs have become a mainstay in almost every school; and both teachers and students are finding that handheld computers are useful in a variety of their daily tasks. Additionally, specific software allows the user to maximize the benefits of the technology by providing a variety of uses for our students in completing daily assignments as well as methods of conducting classroom observations and processing evaluations for administrators. New tools available for website users, such as Google Docs and Web 2.0, allow for more collaborative networking and sharing of information and expand the limitations of gathering knowledge. Finally, educators are incorporating an integration of technology with core subjects to add another dimension to classroom learning. Today’s students have a never-ending world of educational possibilities open to them through the proper use of technology in their classrooms. With proper training, educators can maximize the benefits of technology for their students and peers.
