SuccessLink Associate Wins Top Science Award
6/21/2006
Paula Young, SuccessLink Science Associate member, has been named as a state Awardee for the 2005 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching!
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is the nation’s highest honor for teachers of mathematics and science. The Awards recognize exemplary K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. Excellent teachers perform miracles everyday with little or no recognition. The Presidential Awards demonstrate the value and appreciation the nation has for the teaching profession.
Paula is currently teaching Chemistry and Honors Principles of Science classes at Francis Howell North High School in St. Charles, Missouri. We are so proud of you, Paula!
Professional Development Opportunities
8/18/2006
K-12 Science Professional Development is once again being offered during the 2006-20067school year. This project is in its tenth year of service with a goal of providing high quality professional development to science teachers of all grade levels.
SuccessLink Science (which includes: MESC, Science Attack and Science Success) has brought high-quality “hands-on”, “minds-on” workshops to teachers in our state for the past 7 years. These workshops have been well-received, but we know districts may want more site-based, or one-on-one work. That is why SuccessLink’s Traveling Science Consultants was created. This program has had an enormously positive response from the schools that have participated. This project gives school districts and teachers options to design the workshops to fit the individual school’s needs.
